You gotta hand it to George Streeter, he sure does know how to put on a show! It wasn't the first, and I certainly hope it's not the last.

One has to first understand the overwhelming logistics to be dealt with when putting together such an event. It is nearly impossible to make everyone happy, and to pull off a seamless, rewarding experience for all those attending. And yet, George has done it once again. The people who stepped up to help George are of the highest caliber, whether they are wielding a metal detector, helping set up, keeping the forum going, or assisting with the hunts. This small army of volunteers has helped make the BONE 19 a memorable and very rewarding experience.

Over the years, I've been allowed to participate in a few of the BONE shows, sharing finds with people, knowledge and my experiences. The few that know me personally would think that talking in front of people would not prove at all difficult for me, specially considering how vocal I've been in the past on this forum about issues related to this great hobby. But the truth be told, every time I've arrived at a BONE show, I've had a case of the "jitters"; specially before doing a talk.

Each and every time, after seeing and meeting the people at these shows, all fears evaporate quickly. There is, without a doubt, a thread that connects us all. Whether you're new to the hobby, or a veteran", there is an underlying sense of purpose and camaraderie that makes me glad to be among you, and with you. The various clubs who come to share their experiences and finds, the people who come out to learn about the hobby... It's all quite breathtaking and inspirational, really.

So thanks to all who made this happen, and to all who've attended. I made some new friends, and got to see some old ones, too. You've all left me with a great feeling, and am thankful beyond words.

However to some BONE 19 was stressful, worry and prayer. It became a coming together of friends and con artists and I mean that in a good way. Treasure Hunters, Fishermen, Hunters and Outdoors people are a little like con artists, in that we might stretch the truth in ways to promote our addiction to our hobby..
Maybe I am wrong and make no sense. However I feel we are similar, in that we love our hobby and know some out there do not understand & think we are nuts. I believe, by being professionals in the way we conduct ourselves and the good we do, that we should boast about our hobby. If we do not promote the benefits of our hobby, history will be lost to the elements. I believe in the benefits of the metal detecting hobby, and the good some of us professionals accomplish. For the most part everyone at BONE 19 was friendly, helpful and sharing. BONE 19 was a learning experience. and a benefit to all who attended.
We could not have accomplished what BONE 19 accomplished without help from so many. The only things negative about BONE 19 was nothing. However we felt bad about our treasurer David Gaillardetz's illness. David put a lot of work into BONE 19 before his hospital stays.
There were other problems, associated with BONE, for the amount of work involved, my business failed too sell enough to cover expenses and I lost a lot of sleep over that.. My oldest brother Bernie got sick, my car window sticks, car's battery when dead and I ran out of bananas.
I got a bit loopy when I found a winner in our Best finds place was not aware submitted finds had to have been found in last year. We are a loosely knit organization and it is possible someone could have omitted saying "finds must have been made in the year preceding the newest BONE". Many were sure if Paul's friends, had entered his Washington Button, he could have won If I offended anyone, during BONE, please forgive me. The older I get the harder it is to do things right.
I was overjoyed and thankful to see so many familial faces in attendance. I promised a metal detector to Jesse Thompson's Nor Eastern Club and then he won a Garrett GTP1350 in the big hunt. I was especially happy for everyone who participated in our natural hunts, and who purchased the meals cooked by Jean Wrisley. There were some fantastic finds made in all hunts. 2 hunter's tied for first place with a 1877-S & a 1878-S U.S. Trade dollar and others found coins all of you would have liked to have found. Randy Day a former treasure chest winner, found a 200+ year old U.S. Silver dollar that was never planted in any of our hunts.
The stress and worry of the weekend had me talking with my GOD and working out the best strategies to follow. As much as I want it all to happen, I can't do what I did this year again without additional help and unless I exercise, eat right & make a profit. I haven't worked out since my Air Force days. In the last year I've lost 50+ pounds and yet, it still hurts to walk sometimes. It doesn't hurt to type use the computer, run my mouth, say stupid things, or think. I do too much thinking and not enough doing. Sort of like the people who want to read and study as to best detector they should buy. I believe, if undecided, one should not waste time with homework, metal detectors work. I say, buy a name brand metal detector from a reputable metal detector dealer and not from a discounter who is only interested in your money.
In our Chinese Auction, Thomas Daigle from Madbury, NH won the Safari & Martin Miffex won the Excalibur II 1000. In our national raffle, Jack Turner won the E-Trac and $100 2nd prize. When contacted he stated he had just purchased a new Explorer, had used it in the natural hunt once, and will clean it & box it and donated it back to the Society as a no strings gift. What a man Jack Turner is. We tried to raffle a single serve coffee K cup brewer and only sold $65 in. tickets on it. When 200 tickets are sold we will do the drawing. Profits to benefit the PTHHS & NEMDF
Rob Freeman and John Watson attended from Minelab Americas in Chicago. We were impressed and they did excellent jobs with their workshops. I missed Rob's Excalibur workshop and was heart broken. I thought if I could learn how to properly operate my Excalibur detector, I could improve my finds. John Watson is a Minelab repair tech and he shared a lot of information about repairs with us. Thank you John!
The best finds at the Natural Hunt were 2 US Trade Dollars and a beautiful Seated Liberty Quarter. I got jealous and call the finders a name I reserve for the guys who find great finds with me in the Caribbean. And then these great guys were unfortunately call that name all night. I know prick is not a common saying for some, however its a treasure hunter's complimentary saying and if you can't handle something like that, you are at the wrong place.

Jeannie Wrisley made the greatest meals ever for BONE and they were too good. Ken Stoddard, Dennis Deweerdt helped and volunteers Herbie, John, Rick, John, Christine and several others helped also. The meals ran like clock work and were delicious. However problems were created with walk ins. Even with announcements, to not eat much, and for the heavy people to eat first, too many signed up at last minute & some meals ran out of food. Advance payment works & prevents problems and all who signed up late & or were a walk in, made it possible for some to go without a meal. Here money is not everything, we are friends and friends should let friends know when they are coming over for dinner, a chat, or what ever.
We thank Rob Freeman & John Watson from Minelab in Chicago for attending and making us feel so proud with their attendance. We learned much from them. The highlight of the event for me, was presenting to Rob Freeman the award for his boss. Minelab V.P. Gary Schafer who was inducted into our BONE 19 Treasure Hunters hall of Fame, also inducted were friends Andy Vacco, Lance Comfort, and Sun Ray Detector Electronics. Mr. Frreeman also accepted the 1st BONE Metal Detector Manufacturer of the year award to Minelab Electronics. Many BONE (Best O' North East) members use Minelab detectors. and everyone in Northeast loves their MINELAB.
John Quist was presented The Treasure Hunter of the Year Award for 2012. He denied being a great treasure hunter, however the award is given for volunteers who dedicated to preserving the metal detecting hobbies and not given to someone for great finds, Brian Thomas& Tom Pratt put together our best ever natural hunts and they deserve a big thank you. Rodney Parrtott received an appreciation award, Rodney gets us places to hunt. Thank you JasonHoule for the great pictures , John, Frank, Brain, Martin, Jules, David B, Jason H, Bob K, Jane C, TomD. John. Bill & Barb Barker, Bill's daughter makes and sells popcorn at the show and donates all income to our charities. You people are fortunate, because this old fool loves you all. However selling metal detectors is my line and I must sell them in order to be the BONE organizer. Brian Thomas did a tremdous job with the natural & planted Hunts and his help, made BONE, more of a successful. The meals were great, the hunts were great the fundraisers made money, show & workshops were great, and for the first time in History Jack Turner won 1st and 2nd price in our national raffle fund raisers. When contacted he said he had just bought a new Explorer from me, had used it once and will donate it to the club. WOW was all I could say. Wow was what I said when told a worker donated a winning Chinese Auction metal detector to a 12 year old gill bystander. She was so excited. thank you Jason. I had itime to see Rob Freeman from Minelab in Chicago & his Minelb Excalibur seminar at 2:00pm. His workshop was the only one I had time to attend. If I am as good with mine, as I am now with luck, knowing how to properly run my detector would be an improvement.
However the two men whom I had asked to do the 2:00pm Garrett workshop, were busy somewhere else. I thought it would be a problem & I stepped i n to do the workshop. Howerver with everyone's help, we learned more about the capabilities of the Garrett AT Pro & the Ace 350.

The worry and stress in organizing BONE without committees is stressful and takes a toll on this old man. #19 almost did me in and the merchandise I had to buy for muy business for the Hobby show is always more then I can afford and I usually go into debt with each BONE. Next yearsLAST BONE events will be semilar to #19 except the Thursday supper will be a Durch treat Chinese dineout. (Jeannie live 50 miles away & the 3rd supper took its toll.). This year for #20 she will cook only on Friday & Saturday.
This year despite the lack of merchandise donated to the auction from attendees, the auction tables were mostly bare. Although Minelab's donation of the Excalibur II 1000 and the Safari made the auction a big success.
I put a lot of effort and worry into these yearly events and buying merchandise to have the newest and latest on hand is expensive for this old man. Streeters is just a little business & it is hard organizing the yearly events If it wasn't for the volunteer efforts; helping me sell my merchandise and helping with BONE booths 19, BONE wouldn't happen.
This year, a big thank you to our volunteer & the Streeter sales force; Frank Neal, Martin Miffek, Brian Thomas, David Bailey, Bob Krupicka, Jason Sevene, Jason Houle, Rob Freeman, John Watson. Our 2 natural hunts were well attended and many great finds were made including two U.S. Trade Dollars, and several KG & Large cents, Indians & buttons. Thank you Tom Pratt for renting us your land. The winner of the first and second prize in our national fund raiser was the same person, Jack Turner of Granby, MA. 2nd prize was drawn by Streeter & first prize was drawn by the hunt master, Brian Thomas, .[/b] Mr. Turner had in January of this year purchased a new Explorer SE Pro. With the win of the E-Trac, he donated his old SE Pro to BONE and it will be raff,led off.
The $1,000. treasure chest winner in the Open Hunt was John Shaheen of Newburyport, MA. John is a deserving winner and every year donates time to BONE.
BONE 19 was the BEST EVER, and BONE 20 will be even better (#20 is April 25 - 28, 2013) and as always it will be the LAST BONE.

The weather looks like it will be okay, some passing showers possible. There will be a porta potty at the hunt.

Cell phone reception in the past has been non-existant, so unless a tower has gone up recently, don't plan on getting a call out. The nearest store is about 10-15 minutes away, so bring what you need, ie.. lunch, drinks, batteries, rain gear........

There will be door prizes. I plan to give out tickets before the hunt, then you can go off hunting, and I'll pick the numbers and put it with the door prize, then at your leisure you can come by and see if you ticket matches up to the ticket pulled.

See you tomorrow, hunt starts at 9, ends at 5.

Dave handled the club money, kept the books, packed the truck with Streeter & BONE stuff for BONE, planned the door prizre list for each event and did the Mark Sutcliffe Sunday National BONE Hunt. What he does, we will attempt to accomplished and try to make BONE 19 the BEST. We are still looking for help with the PTHHS, Forum & Gazette booth selling raffle tickets on a Keurig single cup coffee maker) and profits will fund our summer treasure hunt. Help needed at the Streeter's Minelab & Garrett booths & gold prospecting booth too.
We are not a well oiled machine and workers only show up at BONE. Very few attend our monthly gathering, 1st Friday at my shop. In fact there is one tonight and no one has called to say they were coming. BONE 19 and most all events will happen, somehow. Right now we must to sell raffle tickets, because only 87 have been sold. The raffle is a 3 way split 1/3 to St Jude Children's Hosp., 1/3 to Wounded Warrior Project & 1/3 to BONE.
Despite set backs, everything .will go on as planned. Suggestions via a P.M. to me would be appreciated.

Brian Thomas to the rescue. Brian in addition to doing the Natural hunts on Thursday & Friday( April 26 & 27th) volunteered to be the Sunday (April 29) BONE HUNT MASTER. this hunt has 100s of buried targets including 10 tokens for 7 metal detectos, 2 for $100 bills & 1 for a pair of Sun Ray Detector Electronics headphones
John Quist & Richard Fleming said they would help him set up the car port on Saturday for the hunt the next day and plant targets on Sunday morning, register hunters, give out prizes, help with treasure chest & E-Trac raffles at National Hunt.

We have a temporary treasurer Dan Mcmahon from Troy, NH.

We have put together 18 successful BONE events, however, # 19 will be the most difficult and your support is appreciated.

I would appreciate if one of my customers or friends or even posters here if anyone would lead a discussion group about the popular Garrett Ace models & maybe the AT Pro models.
I also need help with the Streeter’s Garrett booth at the hobby show.

The last annual Treasure hunting and prospecting show, may be BONE 19, on April 28th @ Keene Recreation Center, 312 Washington St., Keene, NH.

We always need people to display finds & junk at the hobby show. One year a friend displayed mostly his junk at the show & it was a hit.

This year I desperately need friends & customers to agree to display some finds. Plus Jeannie needs kitchen help for meal preparation. If you can help Jeannie, show up in afternoon at the halls where we will have meals. Thurs. at Post 24, Fri & sat @ Italian Club on Wood St in Keene,

Also several of the judges in Best finds Contest, whom I have depended on, have moved on and I need replacements.

I listed the Garrett workshop thing as a discussion because I didn't think I could find someone to do a workshop With a discussion group, any one can take charge. This would free me up, please Garrett and make the event more of a success.

At Streeters it has been a long list of helpers from Andy to Martin, to David, then Bob, David again and now, who knows. I am again looking for a store, BONE & trip helper. I am not rich, however who ever helps out, will receive an experience of a lifetime for a want-a-be or experienced treasure hunter and its possible many profitable adventures.

Brian Thomas volunteered to also do the Sunday National Hunt and John Q & Dick F. have agreed to help.
